We show the existence of integral varifolds solving the flow globally-in-time in the corresponding Brakke sense using the phase field method. Moreover, such varifolds are solutions to volume preserving mean curvature flow in the L²-flow sense as well. We thus extend a previous result by one of the authors [25].

In particular, we address the special setting of an obstacle problem, where anisotropic particles move on an inhomogeneous substrate. By suitable modification of the surface energies we construct an approximate energy that uses a single convolution kernel and is monotone with respect to the convolution width. This allows us to prove that the approximate energies Γ-converge to their sharp interface counterpart.
